Analysis of Radar at Lo Ching, China

1. This memorandum is in response to your requirement dated 19 May 1961+
requesting an analysis of the radar at Lo Ming, China, and to compare it with
those found at Sheng Yang and Cheng Tu, China.
2. The Lo Ching radar has the characteristics of the MOON CONE, but no
radiating elements can be seen due to poor photography. !TID/TAB of NPIC
measured the Lo Ching radar, the Sheng Yang radar, and the radar at Cheng Tu
and derived the relative dimensions shown in attached drawings. It must be
remembered that these are the best measurements obtainable and are only
accurate plus or minus 20 percent due to poor imagery. However, the similarity
in appearance and relative similarity in dimensions indicate these radars are
probably the same type as the MOON-CONE radar.
The Lo Ching radar appears identical with the radar located near Hunan
Hei-Shih-Pu (112-57E 28-o6N), see CIA photos 465991 and 1+65995. Measurement
cannot be made on the radar'at Hunan Hei-Shih-Pu because'of a scaling problem.
