NAN-NING AMMUNITION DEPOT NORTHEAST, CHINA
A previously identified munitions storage site is located at 22-50N
108-22E, 3.5 nautical miles northeast of Nan-ping, China (Figure 1). The
site is road served only.
Storage Facilities
Facilities in the storage area include 10 gable-roofed storage
buildings (Items 3-12, Figure 3), 2 storage/support buildings (Items 1 and
2, Figure 3) and 2 small support buildings located near Building 1.
Although there are 4- different sizes of storage buildings, the build-
ings have the same basic design (Inset, Figure 3). These buildings have
an overhanging roof along the side facing the road. The roof of Building 5
also overhangs in the rear. Entrances are located at the front and at each
end of the buildings (Inset, Figure 3). In addition, windows are located
on all sides of the buildings. The total number of windows per building
varies according to the size of the building, from 9 in the smallest build-
ing to 19 in the larger buildings.
One of the storage/support buildings (Item 2, Figure 3) has 2 separate
roof extensions which project to its rear.
The location and spacing of the buildings and the vegetation provide
moderate blast protection for most of the storage buildings.
Water basins, probably for use in case of fire, are located near most
of the storage buildings (Figure 3).
Security
The storage area is secured by a single fence located within a cleared
strip which varies in width from about 50 to 150 feet. A guardhouse/check-
point is located at the entrance to the storage area. A small building
serving as a guard post is located at a high point just outside the fence
in the eastern portion of the site (Figure 2). Patrol paths are visible
around the entire perimeter of the storage area.
Housing and Administration
The housing and administration area is located west of the storage area
along the access road. Facilities in the area include 1 administration

Accuracy Statement
All building measurements have been made by the NPIC Technical
Intelligence Division and are considered to be accurate within + 5 feet
or 5 percent, whichever is greater. The line drawing in this report has
been rectified.
