SUBJECT : Electronic Man (EMAN) Manufactured by
1. The "EMW' is a remote controlled, counter rotating prop
helicopter developed by0 under a contract with the Navy for
use In Anti Submarine warfare. It was used as a platform, remote
from a destroyer, from which a torpedo could be launched against
an enemy submarine. It is my understanding that the Navy did not
renew their contract with
2. It is also my understanding that ARPA has purchased three
(3) of these vehicles but it is not clear how they intend to utilize
them. Apparently, there has been some thoughts and efforts in DDS&T
to use an "EMAN" type system as a low-level reconnaissance vehicle.
