Chelyabinsk Ammunition Depot Kopeysk
(Figure 1) is located 4.5 kilometers (km)north-
northwest of Kopeysk (55-06N 061-37E), and 10
km east-southeast of Chelyabinsk (55-09N 061-
26E). The installation is connected to the
Kopeysk Shell Loading Plant (55-07N 061-34E),
2 km south by a spur line and a probable hard-
surface road.
The installation (Figures 2 and 3) is walled
and fenced and covers approximately 275 acres.
It contains a total of 41 buildings, of which there
are 26 revetted ammunition storage buildings
and 15 support buildings. There are no billeting
or equipment storage facilities directly con-
nected with this installation.
The most recent coverage, in
1
reveals that seven new revetted ammuni-
tion storage buildings have been constructed in
the southeast sector of the installation since the
initial coverage in I and that other
probable storage buildings are under construc-
tion in the southeast and northeast sectors of
the installation.
DESCRIPTION OF INSTALLATION
Railroad Service
A single spur serves the installation from
the shell loading plant.
Rood Service
A probable hard-surface, all-weather road
connects the installation with the shell loading
plant and main routes from Chelyabinsk.
Administrative and Troop Housing Area
The administrative and billeting facilities
for this installation are probably located in the
support area of the shell loading plant.

40-foot ammunition storage buildings, eleven 60-
by 40-foot ammunition storage buildings, eight
ammunition storage buildings of undetermined
size, five support buildings inside the compound,
and 10 support buildings outside the compound.
The area is rail served and probably fenced and
walled. Probable construction activity was ob-
served within the compound area in
I Seven new storage buildings have been
added since initial coverage in
