This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Plc (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(I,) small arms firing ranges, (NI) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing area or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Bereza Army Barracks Yaselda is located
in the southwest outskirts of Bereza (52-32N
024-59E) on the north side of the Bereza-
Kobrin highway. This installation is not rail
served; however, the Brest-Ivantsevichi rail
line passes 3 kilometers (km) north of the area.
The Bereza Airfield is located 6.5 km northwest,
another barracks 5 km north-northwest, and a
SAM support facility 1.8 km south-southeast.
This installation, comprised of three
separate areas, covers approximately 145 acres
and includes one administration building, three
barracks, nine support buildings, five storage
buildings in the main, seccred barracks area,
an equipment storage /maintenance area with two
vehicle sheds, four vehicle maintenance build-
ings with four support buildings in a second
equipment storage /maintenance area 500 meters
north of the main area, and five possible ammuni-
tion storage buildings (two of which appear re-
vetted) in an area approximately 1.5 km north-
west of the main area. Training facilities
include a parade ground, a small arms firing
range and an open area possibly for infantry-
type training.

parative analysis revealed the same general
level of usage over this period. The only
.change observed is the construction of a possible
ammunition storage area on a former general
storage installation site.
DESCRIPTION OF INSTALLATION
The main line of the Brest -Ivantsevichi
railroad passes 3 km north of the barracks area.
Road Service
This installation. is served by the all-
weather Bereza-Kobrin highway.
Administrative and Troop Housing Area
Area D contains one administration building,
three barracks, nine support buildings and five
storage buildings. Track activity throughout
the installation indicates the probable occupancy
of all the buildings. The level of track activity
has remained about the same.
Ammunition Storage Area
Area F contains five possible ammunition
storage buildings (60 by 15 feet), one guard
house and one support building. Two storage
buildings appear revetted. Security is undeter-
mined. A storage installation on this site
observed on ihotography had been removed
and the present facility constructed subsequent
Equipment Storage/Maintenance Areas
Area J1 contains two vehicle sheds, 130 by
30 feet and 260 by 30 feet. No change in level
of track activity was observed on KEYHOLE
photography.
Area J2 contains four vehicle maintenance
buildings, 180 by 30 feet, 130 by 30 feet,
130 by 30 feet and 65 by 30 feet (T-shaped),
and 100 by 30 feet and 65 by 30 feet (L-shaped).
It also contains four miscellaneous support
buildings.
