This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1PIc (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, -(C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (t-I) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing area or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Minsk Army Barracks South-Southeast is
located on the south-southeast edge of Minsk
(53-55N 027-35E), one kilometer (km) east of
the Minsk-Marina Gorka rail line and west of the
Svisloch river (Figure 1). The barracks area
is served by a good all-weather road and by
several city streets, but is not rail served.
Minsk Army Barracks Uruchye (AL-1) and
associated military training area is located 14
km northeast. Other military installations
are located in Minsk.
The installation (Figures 2 and 3) covers
approximately 140 acres and contains three
administration buildings, nine barracks, 19
storage buildings, 18 support buildings, five

vehicle storage/maintenance buildings with two
associated vehicle parks, and two athletic fields.
The area is covered by TALENT

Administrative and Troop Housing Areas
Area D1 (Figure 3) contains one adminis-
tration building, four barracks, three storage
buildings and three support buildings. Three

Area D2 contains two administration build-
ings, five barracks, one storage building and

Both areas appear to be occupied.
General Storage Area
Area E contains nine storage buildings and
one support building. All, the buildings appear
to be in use. Six other storage buildings are
scattered throughout the installation.
Other Buildings
Seven support buildings are scattered
throughout the installation and appear to be in use.
Equipment Storage/Maintenance Areas
Area J1 contains two small support buildings
and four vehicle storage/maintenance buildings
with the following dimensions: one 290 by 155
feet; one L-shaped 450 by 35 feet; one L-shaped
290 by 35 feet; and one 105 by 45 feet. The

is probably secure an measures 615 by 520
feet with the greater part of the area used as
a vehicle park. Vehicles or equipment were
observed in this area.
Area J2 contains one vehicle storage/main-
tenance building 330 by 75 feet. At the associated

possible vehicles or equipment were observed
