SUBJECT: Star Gate - Proposed Release of DIA Material
REFERENCE: Memorandum of 10 May 1995
1. Thank you for your response to CIA's request concerning the
declassification of DIA files relating to Star Gate. We now have the
American Institutes of Research (AIR) under contract to perform the
technical analysis of the program files mandated by the Congressionally
Directed Action (CDA). Since your referenced memo specifically states
that "DIA has no objection to a declassification of the `fact of' a DIA
program to employ paranormal phenomena for intelligence purposes," we
hereby officially notify you that we wish to release recently
declassified DIA documents to AIR for the blue ribbon panel review which
indicate DIA's support of program activity in this area. You requested
in your memo that we notify you two weeks in advance so that you can
contact your Public Affairs Office. The release will take place two
weeks from today. Again, thank you for your cooperation.
