SESSION SUMMARY People come to the target site which is a structure and can view something of importance that is scholarly or religious by nature. People learn or acquire knowledge here and the site is not associated with anything technical. It has bright optimistic surroundings and people have faith in their communications shared at this site. The target is a building where groups of people join or gather inside regularly and families may share in this enjoyable experience. Launched February 198k, Salyut-size Mir boasts improved control and operations systems, expanded crew space and- 'nost significantly-a forward locking adapter equipped with five ports. W4 Ilere, Jour craft-all ilready in use-deploy at the station. 1 Soyuz 'I'M space taxi has docked !ertically. A second TM departs the orward port as a crew member inspects he docking seats. Flying in formation, ower, is a large module, nearly the size rJ.Mir itself. Equipped for manned and mmanned operation, it could house !xperunents for astronomy, materials rocessing, or horticulture; periodically t will doc/? with Mir. At the station's tern rides a Progress freighter. Inside Mir a cosmonaut monitors the ontrol station while another floats award his compartment with sleeping ocoon and porthole-gracious living by pace standards. A treadmill for jogging lands at the cosmonaut's left. First to occupy the station (left), 'ladimir Solovyev and Leonid Kizim, t right, return last July after a 25 day mission to Mir rid ,Salyut 7.
