Dear Mr. Dulles:
I was sorry to receive your letter of
December 16 indicating that, due to necessary
commitments, you would be unable to speak at the
opening session of the International Fire Chiefs
Association on September 26, 1961.
The fire service is vitally interested
in our national security, and would like if at
all possible to secure someone to speak to us on
our situation in the world today. Could you
recommend someone from your Agency as a replace-
ment for you as our keynote speaker?
I wish to thank you for your considera-
tion of our request, and although this may be
somewhat of an imposition on your busy time, I
would appreciate any recommendation which you
might give.
