Dear Allen:
Long ago I campaigned for Wilkie under your direction. As
George Vaillant's wife I was in Peru for two years during the
war (he was cultural attache). Later, after his death, at
Frank Truslow's suggestion I translated
The CIA will have records of that -- I hope you will remember
me personally.
For one reason only. That this letter will carry more
weight than just one more letter.
I was born in Mexico, grew up there, worked with George
there, have many Mexican friends. I still write to people in
Peru, had friends in the first revolution against Batista.
For us to act unilaterally in Cuba will drive many well-
interested liberals into the communist camp. We can lose all
Latin America by such tactics.
Do what you can with the President before it is too late.
