I do not believe that Rosa Gonzales can be found on the Chesapeake
Bay regional map that was provided for this tasking. However, I
concucted a search anyway on this map and the location I identified
was just south of Vineland, New Jersey.

Civil Air Patrol Calls Off

Search for Student Pilot
The air, water and ground search for a stu-
dent pilot missing over Maryland since Oct. 4
has been suspended, the Civil Air Patrol said
yesterday.
Rosa Gonzales, 30, of Annapolis, was on a
training flight from Annapolis to various spots
on the Delmarva Peninsula when her single-
engine Piper, Cherokee was believed lost,
some time between 2 and 6 p.m.

p.m., but those reports couldn't be confirmed
by witnesses, the patrol said. She was due
back at Lee Airport outside Annapolis that
night but never arrived.
The search involved as many as 24 aircraft,
Coast Guard boats and people from local, state
and federal agencies. Civil Air Patrol members
spent more than 600 hours in the air, covering
7,000 square miles, from dawn to dusk,
searching a two-state area as far north as
Summit, Del., south to Crisfield, Md., west to
the suburbs of Washington and east to the At-
lantic Ocean.
