A high-frequency broadcasting station is located 4. 5 nautical miles
northeast of Kuybyshev, USSR, at 53?15BN/50?.14BE. The station (see
accompanying photograph) is composed of 4 transmitter buildings, 4
cooling ponds, 2 probable cooling ponds, a housing and support area, at
least 42 self-supporting lattic towers from 100 to 315 feet high, and
numerous stick masts. The station is served by an all-weather road
and has access to power from an existing line in the southeast corner of
the station. The only security noted is a fence partially constructed
around the area. This station is similar in function to stations at Alma-
Ata, Komsomolsk, Novosibirsk, Stalinabad, Tashkent, and Tbilisi..
