1. (S/NF/SK) The target was Churchill Downs, an historic race
track in the State of Kentucky. Site on one of the races in the
Triple Crown of horse racing, Churchill Downs continues a long
tradition of premier racing events. Major events, especially the
Triple Crown, are characterized by the wearing of anti bellum
costumes, toasting with champagne and the eating of strawberries
and cream, coupled with a gay and festive surr(;:unding.
2. (S/NF/SK) Source had an excellent session beginning
immediately with a spontaneous description of, "a large circular
area, rounded, in the middle is an opening, a structure, airy
feeling, something has rhythm, it's a nice (pla(e)". This was
followed by interesting descriptives of a festive area where,
"people play games, pretending...wearing costumes...toasting with
champagne..." Some obscure images reported by Source at this
phase of the session could not be directly correlated with the
known data such as, "dividing, blocking, blinking and jolting";
however, one series of unusual references was ironic, indeed. In
that incident, Source went into some detail to describe the
presence of a, "disciplined religion, very harsh, very old, still
being taught, men only, meditating..." and then capped these
descriptives by repeating the word "church" three times in rapid
succession. Note that the first half of the target name is
Church(iii) Downs. Later a similar set of descriptives of a
small city or village was capped off with another burst of the
word "town" repeated three times in- succession. Again it should
be noted that the last half of the target name, Churchill
(Downs), is brought to mind.
Source further, correctly identified the presence of food vendors
apparently operating from trailers, e.g., "food smells, smaller
structures, cozy, comfortable, smaller +or business but they look
like homes". The image of a festive event continued to be
perceived in conjunction with a central structure, "hard
structure, square (grandstands?), opening up, coming down, going
out (the overhanging roof of the grandstands), and people having
fun, enjoying...a celebration, people getting dressed up, many
people..." Again other obscure images were described by Source
which could not be readily correlated such as geometric shapes,
i.e., "triangles, squares, circles", etc. However, at about this
point, the source hit upon an image of an an "tall, wild,
exotic, people getting dressed up to have Tun, playing games with
the animals, animals controlled by the people..." Then a rather
amusing, albeit, important, image was described by Source who
apparently decided to ride one of the an when she described,
Ha riding feeling, up and down...when I get this feeling I can
feel wind and I feel I can move fast..."
One final image bears mentioning. Source described a series of
events as follows "I can see a group of people on a flat...they
go into something and on top of something...they stay there,
dress the t, I' is a movement sideways...separated +or
while, by themselves...protected, close themselves of+ from
behind...then come out when its over". In the opinion of the

Interviewer, the above sequence closely matches the description
of horses being led into the gates just prior to the start o+ a
race including the excellent description o+ the sideway movement
o+ the gate behind them as they enter the gates.
