Delivery is ahead of the schedule quoted in the
contract statue report of 10 Feb 63.
Total of 12 have been delivered (including contract
and 9 more will be ready for delivery within
pct two weeks. 5 ready now. Requested permission
to divert two to St. Lolls.

Drastically behind schedule. No estimate available of
delivery. Status appears to be in about the fourth
month of a tan month program. They hope to have the
platen and drive mocked up for test by mid April but
that seems optimistic. They plan to use standard cabinet
components from the viewer program, modified to fit.
=will bring layout of control panel tb WDC end of
March for John R. Approval.
Will use Velecomputing Magnetic reading head type 15A
with 2000 counts per rev. No mechanical reset of
counter. Plan to use Nixie tube display of micron
count, reaettable to zero on command.
Will use 2j" Diam C raphmo ground to oool" toles
metering roller. Ilan to tryy0o film wrap for
metering. Can increase to 1$0 by rework if needed.
Counter geared 10 rev to 1 roller rev giving 20,000
counts to 200 mm.
Loosely run developement program. No project plan,
no in-house written design directive, no close
coordination of electrical and mechanical design,
no error analysis to assure achievement of reading
accuracy. Those things are not always needed but
in this ease t he y would be highly desirable.
Design nearing completion, detail manufacturing drawings
being made. No h new parts made yet. Flan to
mock up vacuum metering roller for test in about
2 weeks, (seems Optimistic).
