Approved For Release 2002/07/10 : CIA-RDP78B04747A000900050065-7 %W11 Noe een selected, subject to approval of the MEMORANDUM FOR: Chief, TISD SUBJECT: Outline of Mat i l er a to be Discussed Concerning the STATINTL STAT The f riin is to be discussed STATINTL wit I e representatives of STATINTL A. Output Devices - Terminal outputs is to be provided through an electric t ewrite d yp r an paper tape punch. Throwing products have 25 April 1961 STAT STAT - - - ----- .,..+._ Nc Yl v V LLLeU w 1 Gn a copy of the er tape code. In addition we will discuss the robl p ems o converting the code to any code up to 8 channels for future computer use. C. Output Symbols - The following output symbols are required: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, sign (-), period (.), space, carriage return, and tab. In addition, the following symbols are recommended subject to the flexibility of the accumulator output. Error code 1, error code 2, and end tape code. They shall each consist of one unique character and a carriage return. D. Output Format - It is desired that the output sequence be provided by a plugboard, preferably one which can be interchanged intact for various formats. Additional plugboards may then be wired for various output formats increasing machine efficiency. In the event this is not possible the set format will then be resolved with Ferranti. STAT STAT E. Instrument Controls - Determine if the instrument controls provided are satisfactory to meet our recuirements. The following con- trols are desired, subject to the ersatility. STATINTL Declass Review by NIMA/DOD Approved For Release 200g/07/10 : CIA-RDP78B04747A000900050065-7 Approved For Release 2002/07/10 : CIA-RDP78BO4747AO000900050065-7 1. Tape feed - need not be remote 2. Zero reset -control panel (remote) 3. Output selector - 3 position (typer only, punch only, typer and punch) need not be remote 4. Error code 1 - control panel 5. Error code 2 - control panel 6. End tape - need not be remote F. Buffered Storage - readout on the fly and optional contact fault detector required. G. Output Speed - Should have a minimum of 8 characters per second with a typer hard copy output, and up to 20 characters per second, excluding typer. H. Operational and Maintenance Considerations - The following will be discussed: 1. Theory, installation and maintenance of the I Iproducts. STATINTL 2. Review circuity to insure understanding all symbols and unique circuits used. 3. Obtain as much data as possible on all electrical components so that domestic products may be selected for replacement purposes. STATINTL STATINTL I. Miscellaneous - It would be desirable to be able to enter data by hand on the typer and have it punched simultaneously on the punch. If possible, the punch should be rack mounted along with the accumulator. J. 11 engineering drawings will be minutely studied to insure that no optical or mechanical function has been in- cluded or excluded because of prior misconceptions. According to lI STAT some of the mechanical motions have been assembled and muc of the o tics has been completed and mocked up for our inspection. STATINTL nformed us that the OPlotter was in an ad- STATINTL vanced stage of completion and would subsequently be of considerable interest to us.
