Ninth Monthly Progress Report

Zoom Magnifier
This ninth monthly progress report covers the period 21 January
1965 to 20 February
Detailing was completed and checked about midway through the
reporting period. The drawings were then released for
manufacture of the mechanical parts. Manufacturing proceeded
through the end of the period and will be completed early in
the tenth reporting period.
All optics except for two single elements Were received during
this reporting period. These singlets are expected about the
second week of the next period.

The mock-up of the zoom magnifier was shown to the customer. The
size and weight of the mock-up were satisfactory. Discussed was
the length of a lanyard to provide a means of allowing the
instrument to be worn around the neck. A distance of about 15
inches below the front of the neck was chosen as the nominal
length.
It was agreed that a polished stainless steel ring would be
provided for the base of the instrument. This ring would provide a
good hard surface which will minimize film damage.

Eighth Monthly Progress Report

Zoom Magnifier
This eighth monthly progress report covers the period 21 December
1961 to 20 January 1965.
The mechanical design was completed during this reporting
period. Detailing was started late in the period.
A full size mock-up of the magnifier was constructed. The
mock-up has been studied to determine the best position for the
knurled rings which control magnification and focus. The
Industrial Design Department will suggest final styling and a
color scheme for the instrument.

This Seventh Monthly Progress Report covers the period 21 November
1964 to 20 December 1964.
Mechanical design was started during the latter part of this
reporting period. The design is proceeding satisfactorily and
slightly ahead of schedule and it should be completed in the
second or third week of January. Detail specifications should
be completed by the end of January. The mock-up will roe made
as soon as the exterior configuration of the instrument is
determined, -probably before the entire design is completed.
The probable completion date will be in March 1965? There were
no customer visits during this reporting period.
