This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force and Logistic
installations being prepared for a DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Plc (DJA). The photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the Production Center 1Plc.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,
(L) small arms firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/
assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery
emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train-
ing areas or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified
facilities or tracking activity.

Vladimir -Volynskiy Army Barracks North
(Figure 1) is located on the north edge of
Vladimir-Volynskiy. The installation is served
by a spur from the Vladimir -Volynskiy--Ustilug
rail line and by an all-weather road to Kovel,
55 kilometers (km) northeast.
There are 170 buildings in the installation
including 12 administration buildings, 26 multi-
story barracks, 18 single-story barracks, 12
multistory dependents quarters, 39 single-story
storage buildings, 46 single-story support build-
ings, eight vehicle maintenance buildings, and
nine vehicle storage buildings. There is also a
POL storage area and a possible ammunition
storage area in the installation (Figures 2 and 3).
The installation is associated with the radio
station and troop training area located north of
the installation.
Railroad Service
The installation is served by a rail spur
from the Vladimir-Volynskiy/Ustilug rail line.
Road Service
An all-weather road to Kovel passes through
the installation.
Administrative and Troop Housing Areas
Area Dl includes 11 multistory barracks,
one T-shaped administration building, seven
single-story storage buildings, and 19 single-
story support buildings.
Area D2 has eight multistory barracks, 20
single-story barracks, 12 single-story depend-
ents' quarters, five T-shaped administration
buildings, one L-shaped administration building,
16 single-story storage buildings, and 10 single-
story support buildings.
Area D3 includes seven multistory bar-
racks, three administration buildings, one T-
shaped administration building, one H-shaped
administration building, three single-story stor-
age buildings, and 10 single-story support
buildings.
General Storage Area
Area E has 13 single-story storage buildings
and 14 single-story support buildings.
Ammunition Storage Area

In Area G there are six support buildings
and two -foot, two 50-foot, two 40-foot, and
three 30-foot POL tanks.
Equipment Storage/Maintenance Areas
Area J1 has one single-story support build-
ing, one motor maintenance building, and four
motor storage buildings: 180 by 40 feet, 175
by 40 feet, 160 by 40 feet, and 150 by 20 feet.
Area J2 has six single-story support build-
ings; seven motor maintenance buildings, three
200 by 35 feet, one 160 by 40 feet, one 150 by
50 feet, one 100 by 50 feet, and one 80 by 30
feet; and five motor storage buildings, four 320
by 75 feet and one 200 by 50 feet.
Athletic Fields
There are two oval athletic tracks (K).
