He described Blucher as being in a large "4-storey" white , cement building which the viewer thought was a hospital. The viewer perceived Blucher as recovering from an illness. In Blucher's room was another "hostage related" person who did not appear to be ill, but may be just there to take care of Blucher. Outside the room were two guards. Relax, relax and focus your attention now on Robert O. Blucher whose picture I have shown you. Focus your attention on Robert Blucher. Locate Robert Blucher. Move to this location and describe Blucher's surroundings to me. PAUSE +02 #01 A, a, a, very large "U", "U", a white "U" building multi-storey. Recessed windows. See many white things. Everything's white. People are there. Many people. Like business, business as usual even though he's in the building. He appears to be on the extreme rear right corner of the building. On the top floor. +04 I think there's, there's one other, there may be one other hostage with him, but I can't say for sure. He's in a, I get a split feeling it's like a hotel room, but it's not a hotel room. #66: What makes you say this? #01: Minimal, minimal furniture. It's more like a, like some kind of, I want to say home, but it's not a home, like a very_ expensive hospital, where they tried to make it not look like a hospital. There is a very hospital there. Medical type flavor to this building. #66: Tell me the raw data which makes you say this. +05 #01: White. I get an odor like turpentine or disinfectant. Alcohol base. People wearing lab type coats, long coats. #66: Focus your attention solely on Robert Blucher. Tell me about him. PAUSE #01: I thLnk for sure that this is a private hospital or somethin #66: What makes you say thaE7 Approved For Release 2000/08/085ERCVET02100240001-3 Approved For Release 2000/08/08 : P ? ? ? Ise 40001-3 ma was +07 #01: He's...I sense that he's got a medical history of, like diabetes or kidney problems or something. and, that's accompanied with some, some heart ailment, and I think he's not in exceptionallyegood shape. I sense that he's just gotten through a, a very severe problem medically. He still suffers from it. That may be the result of a stroke although I don't, I can't be clear of what it is. I don't... It's like there's a residue medical problem that's still bothering him. #66: All right. #01: Building's fairly new. Like recently built....5 years old, maybe, maximum. Modern architecture. White, white finish facing type concrete. #66: All right. I want you to remember the outside of this, so as you can draw this for me. #01: I, I think it's, it's like a, it might have, at one time, been a private hospital or a private home or, I, I, that's not exactly right. It's like a........ ...... It's a hospital. #66: Okay. And, is Blucher alone? #01: No. #66: Tell me what makes yob say this? +09 #01: I, I get another person there that, that clearly identifies with the hostage situation. That's why I'm inclined to say it's not a hostage, but I don't sense any illness there. It may be that they are using him as a caretaker type person. for Blucher. #66: All right. Is there any security guard problem in this situation? #01: Uh...yes. #66: Describe it to me. +10 #01: This entire corner, this dead-end corner of the fourth floor is guarded by two, two security guards. One is a young man, beared, armed, but he's only armed with sidearm. Other is armed as well, but I don't, I don't get a clear picture of that. #66: All right. I have no further questions about this situation. If there's anything you'd like to add, please do so now. Approved For Release 2000/08/08 : C 2 Approved For Release 2000/08/08 : CIA-R PAUSE 01-3 #01: Uh...has a very large, I don't want to say it's a garden, but, I don't think it's a garden that belongs to the hospital. I think it's a garden that's on the back of a very large home, directly behind this, this right wing behind the wall. You get the impression that's a garden that belongs to the hospital when you look out the window, because you're looking right into it. But, I think it's a garden to a home. Large, private home. I don't have anything else. #66: All right. Fine. Remember your imagery so you can draw for me. And, let's prepare to draw. PAUSE #01: This is about one of the clearest buildings I feel like I've ever gotten on the Iran problem. It was very modern. Very pristine in the way it's designed and built. Almost doesn't look like an Iran building. I'll try not to screw it up here. These lines in the front of the building are actually lines in the stone. You can picture this as being all white stones. Then, there's full sized windows. There got to be an easier way of doing this. Let's do it this way. It's important that I do this in detail, because I don't think there's too many buildings like this. Not in Iran, anyway. I might be wrong. It's like a steel girdered building with (not audible) for concrete, and these sections of white stone on the front are actually lifted up and kind of fixed to the metal framework of the building. It's very modern, skyscraper type construction, only it's relatively a short building. Appears to be 4-storey; and these are the windows. They are kind of inset. You can probably turn it off while I'm finishing these windows, because I'm going to be awhile. #66: We have plenty of tape. #01: Okay. #66: You'r wanting to draw in detail because you saw in detail? #01: Yeah. It was veryiclear. I don't normally get this kind of clarity. These windows were very clear. And, they were all the way around the building. You could see them all the way around the building 3 Approved For Release 2000/08/08 : ..;EC ism 100240001-3 Approved For Release 2000/08/08 : CIA-RDP #01: Of course, this isn't a great job, either. But.....hummm... And, there is a very wide overhang here. With the entrance way back, like this. Steps. And, back in here glass doors Felt like this is stone, and there's the, you know, your typical air conditioning type apparatus on the roof. You know. That kind of stuff. And lane circular like a aDDIL__Ihere's a side roa , and ere_14-4ZEZ_Plucher is. Fourth floor, top right, and this is glass, and7 uilding is all white -stone. TheTrg-Ifie hossitg..? I don't know if this is solid white stone across the front or not, but I didn't see any detail windows there. So, it might be it's a different kind of glass windows or different kind of facings. That's page 1. Andothat particular floor just comes to the end. There's a window. We'll call this rear right, 4th floor. I felt like he was in this room, and there's two beds in this room, and Blucher is in one and, I'll say, hostage related person is in the other. #66: Did I understand you to say that this other person you don't think is ill? #01: I don't think this other person's ill. I don't get that impression. Blucher has got something like, something he's it's a medical problem he's had for some time. Not just because of the hostage situation. Something he's been carrying for awhile. It's not, essentially, it's not a heart problem. It's like a liver problem or continual kidney problemor diabetes problem. Something like that. And, as a result of debilitation of that, and his capitivity, and his frame of mind, and every- thing else, that I feel like he's suffered a heart problem, recently, and that he's in the process of trying to recover from that. I think it's something that was coming on for some time in the hostage situation, and that it had occurred fairly recently. #66: Okay. #01 And, this is a hallway. The Gs with circles around them are guards. #66: Did you have any description that's with Blucher? #01: That's with Blucher? I felt like I was saying "hi" to him. You know. And, I was saying "hi, John, How's it going?" First name John, young man, black hair, fairly tall, 5 foot 11, 6 foot. That's about all really. #66: Okay. Approved For Release 2000/08/08 : Cl 240001-3 Approved For Release 2000/08/08 : CIA #01: I don't have a name or anything. Other than a That's it. #66: Anything that you'd like to add? Anything about Blucher or anything special. #01: I think he's in better shape than he was. #66: Okay. #01: Now he's recovering. #66: Concerning the problem of time, do you feel like you were there in present time? #01: Yes. #66: I understand then that the status he's now recovered from something he suffered in the past, and he's getting better now. #01: Well, he's not entirely recovered. He's in the processes of recovering. Then, he's essentially health-wise better right now than he was, say last week. #66: Okay. I have no further questions.
