SUBJECT: Dr. Karlis Osis (U)
1. (S) Dr. Karlis Osis (PhD in psychology) was a research
colleague of Dr. J. B. Rhine from 1951-57. He also worked
with Eileen Garrett from 1957-62. He was the Director of
Research at the American Society for Psychical Research from
1962-75 where he investigated the relationships among ESP,
meditation and altered states of consciousness. Dr. Osis has
been interviewed (unofficially by LT Atwater) and is now
involved in remote viewing (he uses the terms out-of-body
experiences and clairvoyance) experiments in which he monitors
various biophysical changes during the remote viewing experi-
ment. Brain wave frequency and amplitude, psychogalvanic skin
response, respiration, random eye movement and pulse rate are
among the variables measured during his experiments. He stated
that there does appear to be some statistical correlation
between various biophysical states and successful remote view-
ing.
2. (S) Dr. Osis' principle subject is Dr. Alex Tanous who is a
nationally known psychic known for his ability to project him-
self out of the body. Dr. Tanous has served as a psychic
consultant to the Federal Aviation Administration, the FBI
and police agencies. Dr. Osis and Dr. Tanous can be contacted
