3. (U) Attendees:
? MG James L. Brown, US Air Force Assistant Chief of Staff
for Intelligence
? MG E. R. Thompson, US Army Assistant Chief of Staff for
Intelligence
? Dr. Jack Vorona, Deputy Director for Scientific and
Technical Intelligence, DIA

?
4. (S-ORCON) The meeting began with Dr. Vorona's review of the SRI brief-
ing which had been presented to the House Select Committee on Intelligence
by Hal Puthoff and Russ Targ on 13 Feb 1979. Dr. Vorona also presented
his briefing on remote viewing to the committee. Both briefings were
well accepted by the committee. The committee members asked a number of
questions, particularly on funding. The SRI personnel expressed their
concern that their remote viewing program could not continue unless out-
side support was obtained. Congressman Rose asked Dr. Vorona what was
needed to get the job done and what the committee could do to support
the program. Dr. Vorona commented that a strong letter to DoD should re-
move the reluctance of some people to deal with the subject of psycho-
energetics. S G1I
5. (S-ORCON) discussed the proposed goals and objectives of
the Grill Flame Committee, based on their meeting held earlier in the
day (Inci 1). MG Thompson suggested that the last goal, intelligence threat
assessment, be moved to the top as the primary goal of all participants.
6. (S-ORCON) Further discussion centered on the issue of funding. Dr.
Vorona was concerned about the funding level for SRI. All members were
concerned about the source of funds for SRI as well as the role the
government should assume in this area. Other possible research facilities
were also discussed.
