ICBM LAUNCH AREA NORTHEAST OF PLESETSK, USSR*
An ICBM launch area of the Yur'ya type has been identified on
25X1D KEYHOLE photography at 63-03N 40-58E,** 28 nautical miles north-
east of Plesetsk, USSR. This launch area is nearly identical with, Launch
Area B of the Kostroma ICBM Launch Complex. The area is road served
and double fenced and measures about 2,150 by 1,750 feet. Visible inside the
fenced area are two missile-ready buildings, each measuring about 175
by 130 feet, and at least three other structures along the west side of the
center road (as at Launch Area B, Kostroma). The road pattern within
the launch area and the launch-pad configurations are not clearly defined;
however, the pad separation is approximately 1,150 feet. About 15 buildings
outside the fence probably constitute the launch support area.
There was no activity at this specific location in 25X1 D
