Approved For Release 2001/08/07 : CIA-RDP78-07181 R000200030019-4 TO: John M. Clarke Chief, Office of Programming, Planning & Budgeting SUBJECT: Recommendation to discontinue the use of the Activity and Category portion of the Management Analysis Numbering System (MANS) code. The Human Resources System Staff is currently analyzing the use of codes that are presently maintained in computer- based systems. As a result of this analysis it has been determined that no reporting has been accomplished with the Activity and Category portion of the MANS code since March 1967. This has been discussed with Mr. of your staff, who indicated that the MANS code does not currently reflect the true utilization of manpower due to CIA's flexible position staffing pattern. It is recommended that the Activity and Category por- tions of the MANS code be discontinued in future systems.
