25X1 A9a 2. Col Saunders of G-2 called with regard to efforts of of

visit has apparently been arranged satisfactorily, the delay being
explained by the fact that there are two William Stevensons in the Office
of the Chief of Ordnance,, one of whom, not knowing Kaffke, raised a question
25X1A9a about the visit. The trip of to the Chevrolet plant has been turned
down primarily because a request did not include enough detail to enable
Ordnance to put him in touch with the proper officials at the plant.
Saunders agreed that such visits were desirable as background information
and training for our analysts and that, therefore, highly detailed questions
could not be submitted in advance. I, on the other hand, agreed that we
owed the military a reasonably full explanation of the gain we expected
from the visit.
3. Attended meeting of Board of Estimates and IAC Deputies on NIE-
25X1A9a, part II. Very sticky going. had an acute case of oral dysentery.
Total progress--2? pages in two hours.

5. Visited by Colonel Hull of General Weckerlingts staff who presented
a formal request for a special estimate on Albania to help them plan a coup
there for next fall. It was all too apparent that they had not even read
NIE-42 and 42/1 so I sent them back with a request that they do that but
meanwhile forwarded the paper to 0/NE for comment as to the feasibility
and desirability of doing such an estimate in the time (by Dec. 15) requested.

69 Admiral Stout called to say he was sending over Navyts estimates of
tankerage available to move Iranian oil, He also reported that the on-the-
spot investigation report of Hong Kong junk traffic had not yet reached him.
