SUBJECT: Training in Care and Maintenance of Radiologic Equipment 25X1A6 b

25X1A6b 1. At the resent time there is considerable electronic
equipment ~for use in the Emergency Plan. This equipment.
25X1A consists of Geiger counters and other devices used in radiologic
screening. The Medical Office is lacking in a trained individual
to properly standardize, calibrate and operate this equipment.
The need for such an individual is immediate.
2. It is assumed that the Medical Office is responsible
for this equipment. It is further assumed that some of this
equipment will be transferred to

resignation in late July of this year. Since that time this
Office has had no one qualified to continue his work. Dr.
25X1A9 resignation in September left this Office bereft of tech-
nical knowledge about this equipment, presented
the problem to PCD and requested that ac on P el to procure
someone to handle the equipment as soon as possible.

4. There is a need for an individual in the Medical Office
to be trained in the care and maintenance of the aforementioned equip-
ment.
5. It is recommended that Mr. - after his assignment
to POD, be sent to the AEC School at Oak Ridge for training in
the care and maintenance of this equipment. This Division is
informed that AEC offers a course of approximately three weeks
duration and that it is free to members of Government agencies.
The next course will be offered in December of this year.
