8. The situation of the Roman Catholic Church in Czecho-
slovak_i.a, has deteriorated markedly since last year. The Govern-
ment has virtually neutralized and silenced the Church organiza-
tionally, and has succeeded in obta.:i.ni.n, nominal clerical upport 1.11
