SUBJECT Possible Compromise of Classified Document
1. W have been advised by the Inspection Staff of the Security
Office that a memorandum from G-2 dated 8 December 1954 reported
that a copy of CIA/SLR ER-5, Soviet Geodetic and Photograrnmetric
Instrumentation was thrown into the Atlantic Ocean from a MATS plane
on 28 October 1954 in order to lighten the load when the plane developed
engine trouble. G-2 therefore presumes the publication to have been
compromised.
2. Sources 21, 22, and 23 on page 31 of this report indicate the
use of CS-G information reports. We are advising you of these facts
for your consideration of any action you may desire to take.
