Approved For Releas 9000/08/21 : CIA-RDP78-06367A00010W50025-7 is an outstanding young career officer who, in a succession of varied and increasingly responsible positions, has consistently demonstrated excellent judgment, initiative and energy, a deep sense of responsibility, broad interests coupled with versatility, outstanding abilities in problem analysis and devotion to the goals of this agency. He has a highly developed understanding of both intelligence production processes and of electronic data processing techniques applicable to these processes. In his most recent assignments, his ability effectively to plan and direct the efforts of groups of professionals in project activities in the latter area are especially noteworthy. During an international crisis he was recalled to his former office as an analyst/watch officer in the current intelligence area and was commended for his performance. As the methodology of intelligence analysis advances and requires increasing application of scientific techniques, including a systems approach to the information processing aspects of intelligence collection management and production, officers of caliber and qualifications will be increasingly in demand for both line and staff positions at senior levels. has proven abilities both in the substance of intelligence and in t e met io ologies and techniques of the future. As his career develops, he could move in a number of directions. For example, he would be excellent as a coordinator of information processing activities in intelligence production; he could become Chief of the National Indications Center, in which activity he had experience as a junior officer; he could become a Division Chief in the Office of Computer Services or of Central Reference; he might occupy a senior position in the Office of National Estimates; he would fit well in senior program analysis assignments in the Office of Planning, Programming and Budgeting.
