Dear Ms. McEwan;
In your letter of 11 January 1982, you requested this Agency
provide source code and documentation for two software packages
previously submitted to the Center: Disease Approximation and
Prediction Program (FSWEC-77/0117); and General Information
Management System (Procedure-Oriented Language) (FSWEC-79/0096).
I have discussed the status of this software with the
responsible CIA individuals. I am informed that the former
package is no longer used or supported in this Agency; in
addition, the latter submission is infrequently used and judged
to be of such a highly specialized nature as to not be useful to
your audience. Under the circumstances, we believe it would not
be cost-effective to provide FSEC with the requested software and
documentation. A member of my staff discussed this matter in
more detail, as recommended in the attachment to your letter,
with Ms. Karen Tallis of NTIS. He reports that Ms. Tallis
concurred with our recommendation to withdraw these software
packages from the FSEC inventory.
We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused FSEC
