MEMORANDUM FOR: Acting Chairman, Fine Arts Commission
SUBJECT : Terminating the Missile Crisis Exhibit
1. Today I again raised at the Director'! Morning Meeting the
question of a termination date for the Cuban Missile exhibit. The
Director confirmed his desire to retain the exhibit until mid-February.
We will plan, therefore, that the dismantling be targeted against the
date of 15 February.
2. This decision should facilitate planning for follow-on events.

MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Support
SUBJECT Terminating the Missile Crisis Exhibit
REFERENCE DD/S 72-4589
1. I had tentatively established 20 January as the
termination date for tile Missile Crisis exhibit, based
on lstatement that the DCI is interested
in having it hung only until then, and based also on the
fact that all scheduled special interests will have been
satisfied by that date. The latter includes all family
days, a visit from the Foreign Service Senior Seminar on
15 January, and the photographic record of the exhibit
that OTR plans to make. However I took the precaution
of checking whether the Executive Director has any special
interest in continuing beyond the 20 January date, and he
replied with a note saying, "Hold at least through January,
per DCI." Meanwhile I also had received your memorandum.
2. I would be grateful if you will get the DCI's
views in the latter part of January, as you offered, and
let me know them. Meanwhile we have extended the ex-
hibition indefinitely.
3. I am keeping NPIC informed, and also
in his Intelligence Museum Commission capacity.

MEMORANDUM FOR: Director of Logistics
Chairman, Fine Arts Commission
Chairman, Intelligence Museum Commission
SUBJECT : Cuban Missile Crisis Exhibit
I. At the Morning Meeting on 13 December the Director expressed
the desire that the Cuban Missile Crisis exhibit continue in the ID
corridor at headquarters at least until February 1973. He verified
that others at the meeting agreed with this and received positive
confirmation of the value of the exhibit in a wide range of liaison
relationships. The Legislative Counsel has been particularly interested
in showing the exhibit to the broad list of Members of Congress.
2. We will need to consult on when this exhibit is to be closed
and I would propose to recheck the ultimate date with the Director at
a Morning Meeting the latter part of January.
3. I would be interested to know if this extended time period
requires adjustment of any other plans for the ID corridor.
