Dear Friend,
1 am writing to urge your supon of the
fundraising efforts of San Francisco
CISPES/NEST, which is providing
mcdialand agricultural supplies to the
people of Tequeque, El Salvador and
their neighbors.
These communities face the daily
threat of bombings and invasion,
engineered and paid for by the United
States government. Still, their people are
working bravely to build democratical-
ly run local governments where the
Salvadoran military has lost control.
The government of El Salvador is un-
w ills ng to provide medical care to all but
the very few who support its policies and
pract, ces ina war against its Own people
Food assistance for the many malnour-
ishcd people in Ell Salvador is not provid-
ed by the government. In fact, the
policies of the government perpetuate
malnutrition and starvation.
The people of El Salvador arc in urgent
need of help. In the face of s uch incredi-
ble human need, the Reagan administra.

bass}dor Robert White has called "one
of. the most nut-of-control, violent,
bloodthirsty groups of men in the
world."
In November of 1983. the people of
San Francisco voted to oppose United
States intervention in the lives of
Salvadorans. Now we have the oppor-
tunity to provide desperately needed
humanitarian aid to the people of Ef
Salvador with our contributions for
medical supplies and food to CISPES/
NEST.
NEST's efforts have already saved the
lives of hundreds of irno rnt women,
men, and children by providing essential
items like antibiotics, seeds, viatmins.
and tools to those attempting to respond
the the brutal violence in El Salvador.
I urge you'to support SF CISPES/
NEST in their request for contributions.
By helping them in their efforts, you will
be making an invaluable contribution to
the improvement of human conditions in
our world.
