As per our conversation on the phone, the Washington Semester Program
would like to put in an early request for a briefing session for the Fall
Semester. It esi to schedule a morning session at CIA Headquarters
,for Friday, September 3.p alternatively, Friday September 10.
s -in the past, we will be arriving in `two buses. There will be approximately ILLEGIB
one hundred and ten students and two faculty members. In light of CIA
requirements, we will provide a list of participating students and faculty.
Such a listing will not be available until early August.
We intend to schedule back to back briefings at the Agency and the
Pentagon. As such, a 10:30 a.m. briefing lasting approximately one hour to
one hour and fifteen minutes would be desirable. I will be in contact with
you later in the summer to make further arra1igements, if such a session
should prove feasible.
Once again, thank you for your assistance and cooperation.

Dear
12 March 1982
Thank you for your recent invitation requesting a representative
from the Central Intelligence Agency to speak at your forum on "ethical
problems encountered in various professions."
I am sorry but we. have no one available to accommodate your request
at this time. It is sometimes possible, however, for us to present
briefings to small groups of interested students here at CIA Headquarters.
We would certainly entertain the notion of such a visit from students of
Swarthmore. If you plan to come to Washington anytime in the near
future and are interested in a briefing, please contact this office and
we will try to schedule one for your school.
Best wishes for a successful forum. Thank you again for thinking
of us.
Sincerely.

Your understanding of the visit by you and your students to the
Central Intelligence Agency on 19 April is in line with my own. I have
been able to secure the Agency's senior briefing officer to introduce
your group to the mission and organization of the Agency and the Assistant
National Intelligence Officer for Latin America will discuss Cuba's foreign
relations. I regret that I was unable to work in a tour of our operations
center but security simply would not allow uncleared individuals to visit
the center. In all honesty, unless one held a security clearance, a tour
of the operations center would be of little value anyway.
We shall expect you to arrive shortly before 10:00 a.m. by private
vehicle at the CIA entrance off Route 123. As you drive west on Memorial
Parkway, exit onto Route 123 south and watch for the CIA entrance on your
right. After checking in at the guard post, please drive on to the main
entrance of the building where another guard will tell you where to park.
I would hope to meet you on the steps to Headquarters Building.
I am looking forward to greeting you and your students on 19 April
and I trust your visit with us will be both informative and pleasant.
Sincerely yours,
Coordinator for Academic airs
