Monthly Report -- Hong Kong Bureau -- December 1983
STAT
Being the first to move, the bureau has now had some two months to ad-
iust to the new premises. We have decided one of the nicer things about
other, and featuring the dimmest of lighting plus favorite selections from
the charts, the elevators look like strays from a Tsim Sha Tsui disco.
II. EDITORIAL/MONITORIAL
Lateral Services
Language Tapes -- At the request of the Defense Liaison office, the
bureau is recording selections from the PRC provincial radios for use by
students and teachers in the British Forces Language School in Hong Kong.
The bureau is giving the tapes to DLO for forwarding to the language school.
Personnel
Consulate Wage Survey -- The State Department has approved the results
of the recent wage and classification survey. Pay raises retroactive to 16
October were approved for certain FSN grades. For the first time, a housing
allowance was approved for all FSN employees and local medical coverage has
been expanded to cover dependents and out-patient coverage.
