Approved For Release 2008/06/12 : CIA-RDP85M00364R002404760084-0 curlFI DENTIAL 12 July 1983 MEMORANDUM FOR: Chief, Legislative Liaison Division/OEXA FROM: Executive Assistant to the DDCI SUBJECT: Briefings for Congressmen Traveling to Denied Areas A belated follow-up on the questions raised by Congressman Fowler on providing defensive briefings to Congressmen going to the Soviet Union or other denied areas. As long as we brief Congressmen on our Committees, we are in good shape. You should remind t ' Sergeant at Arms or whoever is responsible, however, that he should advise other Congressmen of CI concerns in the Soviet Union. If any other Congress- men ask, we should willingly provide them defensive briefings- The ball would be in their court, however, to ask. .
