standable. He served with the OSS in Ireland from 1942 to
1944. In the course of his research, he found reference.
to two letters critical of him which the U.S. Minister
apparently wrote to the State Department. I have enclosed
a copy of letter to me which explains his in-
terest in greater detail.
has been told by CIA personnel that some
2,800 requests for the OSS files are ahead of his. If he
is required to wait his turn, it seems rather unlikely that
he will be able to complete his research. He is 73 years
of age and he is not in the best of health.
I would be most appreciative if you would personally
look into this matter and do what you can to expedite the
processing of request.
