SUBJECT: Weekly Report for Period Ending 4 March 1983
1. Progress reports on tasks assigned by DCI/DDCI:
2. Items/events of interest:
a. During the period, representatives of the Psychiatric Operations
Division, Office of Medical Services, provided briefings on hostage survival
and the psychology of defection to members of the Air Force Office of Special
Investigations and to a Foreign Service Institute training course. They also
provided counterterrorist training
b. In concert with the Office of European Analysis, the Center for
the Study of Intelligence conducted a two-day conference on "Yugoslavia:
Prospects for the Future." the
conference was attended by consultants
officers from the Defense Intelligence Agency ane
U.S. Embassy in Belgrade.
c. A concerted effort was made to order as many Delta Data terminals
as possible against the Agency Requirements Contract before the established
date (26 February 1983) for price increases. A total of 297 terminals (and
associated equipment) were ordered on 25 February with a dollar value of
$1,936,252. The savings realized by placing the orders prior to the price
increase is $74,398.

h. On 1 March representatives of the Office of Security provided an
extensive Hostile Audio Threat Briefing to 26 students attending the Military

i. During the reporting period an Office of Security representative
3. Significant activities anticipated during the coming week:
a. A Monthly SAFE Status Review meeting is scheduled to be conducted
on 11 March at Headquarters.
b. The first SAFE training course, a seven-day course designed for
the technical managers of SAFE, is scheduled to start on 14 March. On 4 April
there will be a three-day course to provide upgraded training to current users
of the Pilot Mail Operations. On 11 April the first five-day course for new
users is scheduled to begin.
