I appreciate your interest and share your concern in any reorganization or
change in leadership of the SAFE Project that may impact ne 1 on the
progress of the project. As Harry Fitzwater discussed with the
intent of the realignment of the Consolidated SAFE Project Office (CSPO) is to
strengthen our joint development of SAFE. We believe it will improve the
bonding between CSPO and the rest of the Office of Data Processing (ODP) to
insure the total commitment of the resources of that Office to accomplish
SAFE's goals.
The appointment of as Director of CSPO, replacing
is consistent with the above goa s. Bob is currently the Associa a epu y
Director for Processing, the component of ODP which provides the majority of
support to CSPO. Bob has considerable experience in managing the development
of large ADP programs. He is a good leader and manager and will work well with
will remain available to provide continuity for SAFE as required.

Both the Director of Data Processing, and Harry Fitzwater will
remain deeply involved in the management of SAFE in the same fashion as they are
today. They will continue to work with and your senior management to
insure your interests receive proper attention.
