Stated that he had talked with Mr. Staats concerning the Bi.reau oI" the Budget's proposed "directive" on PSB and asked the Director if he wished ~.o discuss this matter with Staats. Mr. Wisner not(-rd that he had learned last night that this whole problem had taken somewhat of a ttzrn and (1) State now appears to be on our side; (2) George Sclwarzwalder of auc had reportedly rewritten the original orooosed budget directive and -i nter:ed . to send this re-write to the President direct. After some discussions, the iii rector stated (1) we would continue to follow the course of action outlined at Y-=sterda,y's eputies' Meeting;; (--) we had been asked for cosmnents from the L;ureru of the Budget on the directive in question and would make them; (3) it would be desirable if the comments of the members of PSIS could be made collectively ratrer than individually. b. noted that Majority Leader cCorrnack had indicated in r. cone=ersa-_;io_z with Mr. Pforzheimer that he (_IcCormack) was well pleased with the results of the Congressional Committee appointed to investigate the Katyn Forest ,assac-e and asked what our views mie:ht be toward the appointment of a similar co-a- itwee to investigate "North Korean atrocities."
