PRESENT: General Smith, Messrs. Dulles, Wisner, Wolf, Becker,

a. Noted the item in the Log concerning land asked if he was resigning
for any particular reason. Mr. Wisner stated a e was not and was leaving due
to being "Just plain tired." The Director then said that a letter of appreciation
should be sent too Mr. Wisner undertook to have this letter Dreuared and
signed by

a. Raised the question of purchase of arms and ammunition and stated that
a. Brought to the Director's attention a cartoon on Le Monde in yesterday's
NEW YORK TIMES, which was done by Richard Low.
b. Left with the Director a memorandum of conversation he had prepared as
a result of a discussion held with John Mitchell, Chief Counsel of the Congressional
Committee investigating Katyn Forest Massacres.
c. Noted that the list of replacements for Q had narrowed to two
and, after some discussion of the qualifications of these individuals. he
Director stated he would concur in the selection of F7 I

d. Noted that had been taken to the hospital on Friday;
however, it had been reported that his illness was not serious.
e. Asked the Director if he had had opportunity to further consider the
appointment of DCI said he had not and indicated he intended to
discuss this ma er Turt er with General McAuliffe.
