Than Van Giaa, minister of Information of the Democratic Republic of Viet- nam (DRV) is now in command of a well trained and well equipped Communist brigade operating on the Burma Indochina border.* Troops of this brigade include Burmese, Laos and Vietnamese. 2. Pham Ngoc Thach, President of the Administrative and Resistance Committee of Saigon-Cholon, is currently at Tan Khanh (106-0, 11-00), where he is investigating the causes behind the increasing defections of DRV forces in Cochinchina. Muoi Trig-, will arrive in Saigon-Cholon in a few days to replace Nguyen an Thi, who was recently arrested, as head of MV forces in the area. Tri, whose younger brother recently arrived in Saigon, is now believed to be in complete sympathy with the Coannunists. 25X1A * Comment. According to all, available information, Tran Van iau has ways been associated with information and propaganda work. It is probable that he is !'olitical Commissar, rather than military commander., of this brigade. 25X1A 25X1A ** Comment. ruoi Tri was reported as commander of a resistance group operating in the Chau Doc An Thinh-Binh Thach area of Cochinchina, which had made unsuccessful attempts to rally to the iao Dai Government.
