In late February, the 131 division was at T$angchiawan () ',. ~'g ). Chunrshan Helen. The division was equipped with six long.-range artillery pieces. Its headquarters was in the residence of TANG 5hao-i (J ip, 44. ). In late February, one battalion and, one machine gun company of the 5 Regiment of the Kt:iangtung-Kwangst Column was at Wantzu, opposite Macao. 2. On each night from 25 to 28 February, the Kwangtung Military District Go nd sent 15 army trucks from the Canton Army Depot to the Hatfeng (115-20, 22.58), Lufeng (115+-3B. 22.58) , Cho aoan (116-37, 23--42) anri stow areas. `ach truck was loaded with heavy rresnons3, including some new Soviet weasons. for troops in these areas.' On 1 April, hsten governments In central Kwangtuzj started collfbcting a "militia fund" tax from farmers in the area, consisting of fire cattles of unhulled rice for every mou of land. The tax was not officially announced by Kwanetung authorities. It was levied because of a shortage of funds and food supplies needed to support the ex anded militia training program. 25X1A 25X1A rm reported that 20 light tanks, 30 armored cars, 6 anti-aircraft guns and. 20 artillery pieces were sent to Canton in aid March 1951.
