1, There was an airfield northwest of Pyatigorsk (44 03N, 43-01E), Stavropol
Kral, southwest of a hill on which an atomic energy plant was said to be
located,,* A high tension line suspended from iron masts 15 meters high was
east of the field. The landing field was sodded and dry,, Only small buil-
dings were seen at the field.
2. About 10 biplanes, which were used daily for training flights, were stationed
at the field. Large commercial planes used to make intermediate landings
there.
3. A large three-story building south of the field housed a pilot school.. PW
Camp No 7424/5 was located near this building, The ground floor of the pi-
lot school was occupied by three large class rooms with a capacity of about
150 students. Larger rooms were also on the second floor, while the third
floor was occupied by living roots and club rooms for the students and the
ground personnel, The school was attended by 50 to 70 students, most of
them air force officers.**

25X1 Ally an elevation northwest of Pyatigorsk, probably Mt. Beshtan.
The report indicates that, as in December 1948, the airfield
and the air force barracks were occupied by a pilot school in mid-1949,
