1. From early February to mid larch most of the school buildings in Hukden
and Changchun were being used as hospitals for wounded Communist troops
evacuated from Koreas
20 Medical troops in Llukden state that because of the lack of hospital facil-
ities in Manchuria, many wounded Communist troops are being sent to
China proper, mainly to the Chenghsien (1134t0, 34-45) and Sian areaso*
3. On 16 ';arch four boxes of medical supplies from the Jouch Qih
Hospital and three mores of medical supplies and six boxes of drugs from
the Teuch'iang (j i ) Hospital, Canton were sent north on the Canton-
Iiankow Railroad for soldiers wounded in korea,
L The Hong Kong and Macao Operations Committee of the Chinese Communist
Democratic league for Taiwan Autononnr** were ordered by Communist
authorities to recruit Taiwanese nurses in Japan, Hong Kong, and i'Iacao
for use in Korea as nurses and Japanese language interpreters, In
Japan approximately 100 Taiwanese nurses were recruited but were unable to
go to Korea because of transportation difficulties. As a result recruiting
in Japan has been discontinued. By 19 arch, 11 nurses recruited in Hong
Kong and Macao, including LIN Chin who is in charge of the group.,
were sent to Canton.
5. In early Llarch the railroad labor union in Hangchovr began the "Railroad
Workers Joint Support Front Line Korea War" movement. By 19 March
approximately 200 railroad workers had volunteered and had been sent
north.

classes at Sian, Tihua,, Hankow, Peiping, and ming0 Those desiring
to study Russian Vill go to the Tihua school, Some students at
St, Johns, Lingnan, and Yenching Universities have been asked to go,
to Korea as interpreters to aid in the interrogation of American
risonerso Some students are assigned to the Weather Bureau of the
