SUPPLEMENT To
On 3 October 1950 the SS OU-YANG-1.I-1'UN and SS YAI-TO-KE-bLA-ShIH*? two
British ships of about 8,000 tons each, arrived at Taku Bar loaded with
hardware, chemical sup lies and drugs. The Chinese Communist Public
Security troops threw a cordon of guards around the harbor when the ships
arrived,. and the unloaaing was done in great secrecy. The seamen on these
ships were housed and entertained in the Tientsin municipal. government
guest house.
On 14 October 1960 the SS hUA I1S iAG
~ loaded with 5,000 bales of
cotton-padded military uniforms, arrivedlat the new Butterfield and Swire
Company wharf at nraoy, from Shaaghai,> Tnis wharf was equipped with a
steel crane in late sunimer 1950.
In early October 1950 a shipment of steel plates for ship construction was
bought by the Min Sheig Company from a firm in Japan, The shipment was
due in Tsingtao on or about 19 October 1950,

Comment. These ships may be the SS EURrvEDON, 79314 gross
tonnage, and the SS PATROCLUS, both of which have made trips from the
United t>ingdom to North China.
