An uncompromising support for the Social principles of the former Italian Social Republic; An extreme nationalism; 18o collaboration at present with other parties; Opposition to the British and, to a slightly lesser degree,. the Americans; and The possibility of co-operation with the Communists in concerted action against the present Government. CI-ASSIFICATION COIDE IAL/CONTROL The Movimento Socials Italian (MSI; Italian Social Movement) although officially a political party, is not only split by various "currents", but contains several groups with completely divergent aims. Some of its prominent mem- bers favor a Monarchy, others a Republic run on classical Fascist lines, others again a Republic based on the principles of the former Italian Social Republic. 2. The main divisions in the MSI are as follows: V.S. The flossibi.ity of an understanding with the Atlantic pact powers; A Republic in preference to a Monarchy; A nationalist standpoint; A form of Socialism based largely on the principles of the former Italian Social Republic, but not rigidly so; and Co-operation with other right-wing elements, b. A. small group under Stasis Ruinwsl, director of 11 Pen iero isio rich is violent and revolutionary, strongly opposed to.the Center of De Msrsaaaaich, and hostile to Almirante on personAl grounds,' This group is not at all averse to collaboration with the Communists for political ends. e. A small group around the ultra-right-wing paper p..A& t a of , which encourages "nostalgic" eulogies of Bonito Mussolini. ?MaD7 are ardent former followers of Roberto Yarinscci. Not all subscribers' to the paper, or all members of the editorial staff, are in the MSI, and the paper is not recognized as an official mouthpiece Of the Move- ment, although it has a fairly large circulation among the various currents. All currents are united in hostility to the Christian Democrats, Liberals and Socialists, and most are all hostile to the Coifs.
