1? The VL13 Bleierz (Nationalized Lead Ore Enterprise) belongs to
the VVB Buntraetall (Association of Nationalized Nonferrous Metals
Enterprises) in Freiberg`(Saxons),(N 51/K 97).. The manager of
the VLB Bleierz is graduate engineer Rande (fnu), and his
deputy is graduate engineer Valiant (fnu), who is responsible
for underground minl_ng, The VLB Bleierz comprises the Beihilfe
;Tine in Haisbruecke (f 51/K. 97) the Glueckauf, Himnielf ahrt-
Fund and Reiche4Zeche mines in P'reiberg,(Saxonyjond Brand
Erbisdorf near Freiberg.
2, A new opening in Brand Lrbisdorf near Freiberg, with a labor
assignment of 3,000 men, is planned, The Beihilfe mine employs
about 800 ,"workers and produces about 100 tons of lead ore
(Uri to 3.5 percent Pb) monthly with heavy spar (Schv.erspat) and
fluorspar as byproducts. The Kurp.rinz mine about 600 meters
deep, located in Gross-Schirma('Saxony)(N 5k/K 87) is being
drained, Draining operations have reached a depth of 350 meters.
The mine was shutdown about 1925 because the prociuc'~: ion of lead,
silver and sulphur was too low to make the mine profitable
Much importance is presently attached to the production of
pyrite,
25X1A
Fyrite is a critical material in the Soviet Zone
because the pyrite mines in 3:l.bingerode (N 52/D 15) are, to
a large extent, already exhausted. The pyrite production of the
Elbingerode mines is not sufficient for the production of
sulphuric acid. Soviet Zone attempts to ?.report pyrite from the
West, especially from Norway, have been only p=krtially successful
