EdvarTd Kardelj, Yugoslav Foreign Minister, is reported to have recently stated
that the policy pursued by the United States toward the Chinese is too
inflexible and rigid, The United States takes statements made by the
Chinese too seriously and makes no attempt to win the Chinese over.,
Allegedly, Kardei declared that the United States is not sufficiently
aware (sic) that the Chinese are ready to came to terms on all problems,
and to "leave the Russian fold., T1 it is the opinion of the Yugoslav Foreign
Minister that the United States should demonstrate her good intentions
toward India- by continuing to make grants to that country,,
Comment: According to infor'iatior, received from another
gcrv:men, agenr?jr_ Jo--e Vi.lfan, now in the Yugoslav Foreign office, may
soon be a.poointed Yugoslav Ambassador to India
