1? On. 1 July 53 members of the Mukden Airfield ground-crew were transferred. to
Pyongyang. This number consisted of 5 Soviets, 11 Japanese and. 34 Chinese.
2. In mid July approximately 200 Soviet=trained Manchurian pilots were sent to
South China cities. Approximately 50 pilots were sent to each of the following
cities Nanning, Yulin, Swatow and Canton.

In early August the headquarters of the Chinese Communist Army instructed the
1w ntung Military District Command to construct four Class A airfields in the
following areas in east Kwangtung:

4. These fields are to serve an refueling; bases for jet planes and each will be
equipped with underground fuel storage tanks. In ad,rlition the runways on all
existing fields will be extended to 7,000 feet.
5. In early August Soviet adviser Sha tofu ('V 'W j1i &.) inspected the site
for another allf.rfield. at Methssien (116-13,24-.18)

6. As of 13 August important Soviet advisers in Hainan and the distribution
of this personnel was as follows:
a. Colonel Milo-no-fta. ( . 4 ,. ), senior Soviet adviser to the Hainan
Military and Administrative Committee, under whom are 50 advisers to the
Civil Administration, Education and Public Security Departmentso
b. Lieutenant Colonel Ko-ho-ko--fa senior Soviet Air Force
adviser, under whom are 120 Soviet Air Force technicians assisting the
Chinese Communists to reconstruct Haikoou and Sanya Airfields and
planning to increase Chinese Communists Air Force strength on Hainan.
c. Naval Captain Rui () ), senior Soviet naval adviser, under whom are
150 naval technicians.
d.. Lieutenant Commander Ma-:l.ieh ko o-fU senior Soviet
adviser to the Chinese Communists authorities in Tulin Harbor, under
whom are 30 Soviet Advisers. He was formerly adviser to the Kwangtung
River Defense Headquarters.

with the responsibility for assisting the Chinese Communists develop the
