The 234 Battalion, an intelligence unit of the 2nd Bureau of the Daaocratie
Republic of netnam (DRV) High Conmand, MIS organiaed in mid-October 1950
by a special delegate of the General Staff Le Lich, aka Le Thanh Rao"
The battalion is composed of 70 intelligence agents, recruitei by regional
cells of the Communist Party of Indochina (PCI)? 80 percent of whom are
agricultural rorkers and 70 percent o.;.' whom are POI members,
2, The 234 Battalion is currently assigned to the Tran Hung Dao (Vinh Yen-
Phuc Yen) Frona. In preparation for the Than Hung Dao front l the rnv Hiqh
Command assigned Le Ninh and Le Tien as Provincial Commissara and Du Gaol-
as a special delegate of the General Staff in the area-, In late February
1951 Le Ninh was reolaced as Provincial Commissar ba Uguyen Ky, aka Nguyen
Tien Hung? Comander of the battalion
Battalion headnuarters is currently at AD Cau Vang Nam Ly hamlet, Ay Son
cantons Da Phuc (105-52, 21-20), northeast of ?hue Yem, The command staff
