OF PAGES T CIRCULATESUPPLEMENT TO Luring June 1951 Chinese Communist authorities started moving factories, ware- houses and hospitals from the Wenchou and Linhai (121.07, 28-53) areas to a mountainous area in north Chekiang. In early June there were no regular Chinese Communist troops In the Xiamen (121-16, 28-06) -Ch'umen (121-17, 28-15) -Yuhuan (121-13, 28-09) areas, elements of the 35 Army having moved from those areas.1 On 2J4 June tto battalions of the 315 Regiment sailed from Vanmen to Euangtaiao (121-o6, 27-59) in 17 junks. 4. Approximately 50 motor junks of the 103 Division were along the wharves in the East Gate area of Uenchou. One battalion of the 308 Regiment was at Tungehiachlang ( z 4 ) in the I(l Cht n anch'iao (120-s46, 27-59) area at the mouth of the Ouchiang (120- 2& 6. On 25 Y ox the Chekiang 5 Military District Command organized a coastal defonee battalion and recruited members of villages in the Wenchan area, In mid-June the battalion was divided into three companies, each with three platoons, which were disposed as follows: The 1 Company in the Ssuwan (' ) area, the 2 Compaar in Yuhuan and the 3 Company in Loch?ing (120-57, 28-08). The battalion was equipped with 3 heavy machine guns. 9 light machine. guns, 3 x 60 mm Pans and 6 motor junks. 15. On 20 June the 31 Company of a coastal defense battalion of the Che)dang 5 Military District Comma.nd5 moved to an area at the mouth of the Ou River. 16. Five Chinese Communist motor junks of the rotor junk unit of the 103 Division were in the Chuangyuanchtiao-Wenchou area, each equipped with two small cannons and two light machine guns. 17. Approximately 200 Chinese Communist rtiilitia troops and 5 motor junks were in the Juian (12038. 27-49) Marbor area conducting, amphibious maneuvers. 18. In late June cadre members of elements of the 23 Army at Taishan (122- 30- ) were scheduled to leave for Tinghai (122-06, 30-03) to attend a conference scheduled for 1 to 3 July. 20.
