In January the Ordnance Administration of the Central and South China Area Coxmand begen to expand the Chuchou (3.1.3-06, 27..53) Arsenal by constructing factory buildings and reconstructing machinery left behind by the Nationalists. The machine tools for making machine-guns have been brought from the Soviet Union. 2. This arsenal has become one of the best in the Central and South China area. It employs 1,570 workers in three shifts of eight hours each. The wage scale of workers has been increased to eight salary pointsl per person daily; consequently, the workers P morale is high 3.
